The Math Gateway is maintained by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). It is a Pathways project of the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) -- a pathway leading to undergraduate mathematics materials in the larger NSDL library and to other projects with significant mathematics materials and services.
The Math Gateway builds on the experience gained from MAA’s collection project, The Mathematical Sciences Digital Library (MathDL), one of the original NSDL collections, and on the work of the Mathematical Sciences Conference Group on Digital Educational Resources. The Conference Group has met annually at the MAA for the past four years to discuss issues and common approaches to the classification, presentation, and use of web-based materials in mathematics.
The Math Gateway begins with the cooperation of fourteen partners. In addition to creating a portal to NSDL resources, the Math Gateway provides an opportunity to continue and expand the work of the Conference Group. This group has already agreed upon a common taxonomy for interactive online learning materials in mathematics.
