Welcome
We're back!.
We're now back from our fabulous jaunt across the wilds of rural France!
It was totally amazing to just unplug and switch off from the rest of the world for a while - and with some quality wine and cheese to boot. Of course there's the obligatory mass of photos... although there will be more to come. There's only so much a man do with nearly 1000 RAW images and a laptop!
Prisoner 4099 Site Wins a JODI award.
I'm proud to announce that my Prisoner 4099 project
has received a Jodi Award for excellence in accessible web design.
I attended the ceremony at the British Museum on June 13th with some colleagues from The National Archives. Lord Rix, the chairman of MenCap presented the award.
Krakow - Poland
This was my first foray into Eastern Europe in years. We stayed in a great little apartment very close to the medieval city centre.
It's just a wonderful place to see, brimming with history and charming little cafes and bars tucked away all over the place. It very much reminded me of Prague about 10 years ago.

Wolfram Alpha
Finally something revolutionary in the search engine world! Wolfram Alpha is from the same genuis who brought the scientific community "Mathematica". It's no so much a Google-killer, rather a whole rethink of a web-based search service. Instead of giving you reams of 'matches' to a search, it attempts to provide difinitive answers to questions you pose. It seems to work well with financial and scientific data.

PicLens
This is a really great plug-in for visualizing images and video from a Media RSS feed. It works in all major browsers and with many sites such as Flickr, Amazon, YouTube and more, and is simple to set up.

Just For Fun
Gorilla's In Our Midst...
Here's some pic's of our weekend trek up the River Thames in a traditional skiff. The goal was to start from Richmond and get up to Guildford on the Wey Navigation.
Unfortunately this was the weekend that we had huge torrential rainfall so, in just a few short hours we were deluged!
We got as far as we could, and managed to raise over $600 for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Thanks very much for everyone's support.
Samorost
I just love these games - absolutely beautiful artwork, quirky little puzzles and impeccably put together. If you haven't seen them before - beware, they're very adictive!
